ServicesSudden Damage Repair
Sudden Roof Damage Repair in Los Alamitos
A torn section of shingles, a cracked run of tile or water coming through the ceiling needs attention soon. We cover the damage to keep water out, then plan a proper repair that meets code, with the scope and price explained before work begins.

Keep Water Out First, Then Make the Real Fix
When a roof is damaged without warning, the work comes in two parts. Part one is a stopgap, most often a fastened tarp or a sealed patch, that keeps rain off your decking, insulation and drywall. Part two is the lasting repair, built with matching materials and proper underlayment and flashing.
We treat these as separate jobs for a reason. A tarp only holds the line for a while. It does not count as a repair, and we will not leave one on your house as though it were. When the spot is dry and safe to work on, we return with a written plan for the permanent fix.
Some fixes are small enough that the city has no paperwork for them. Others, especially when the damage covers much of a slope or goes down into the decking, become work the city wants permitted and inspected. Before anything is booked, we tell you which kind of job your roof needs.

What the Work Includes
- 01
Damage check from the roof and attic
We look at the opening from above and, when we can reach it, from the attic below. Wet decking and insulation often run farther than the hole itself.
- 02
Secured temporary cover
Tarps are fastened with battens so wind cannot lift them, and laid to shed water past the damaged area rather than into it.
- 03
Photos of what we found
You get pictures of the damage before and after we cover it. They help you understand the problem and are useful if you open an insurance claim.
- 04
A written estimate for the permanent repair
Each line shows the materials, the area involved and whether the city needs to sign off on the work. No vague totals.
- 05
Repair with matched materials
Shingle, tile or flat roof membrane is replaced to fit what is already on your home, with new underlayment and flashing where the old layers were damaged.
- 06
Cleanup each day
Broken tile, loose nails and old underlayment are picked up and hauled away, and we sweep the yard with a magnet before we leave.
Questions about Sudden Damage Repair?
Call(562) 379-3378When Your Roof Should Be Looked At Right Away
Drips inside the house
If water is dripping or a ceiling stain spreads while it rains, it has already gotten through the roof. Set out a bucket and move your things clear of the area.
Shingles torn off or peeled up
High wind can fold shingles back or rip them away, leaving bare underlayment waiting for the next storm.
Broken or out-of-place tile
Clay and concrete tile can crack under a branch or a heavy step. Tile isn't what keeps water out, but an opening sends rain to the underlayment beneath much sooner.
A branch came down on the roof
The roof may look fine from the yard, yet a limb can still split decking or break through. Let us do the climbing.
Flashing that has come loose
Lifted or bent metal at chimneys, vents and walls is one of the most common ways storm water gets inside.
What Happens When You Call Us
- 1
Tell us what happened
Let us know what damaged the roof and where water is coming in. We book a free inspection and give you tips for protecting your home until we get there.
- 2
Cover it and take photos
When we arrive, we make sure the roof is safe to walk, fasten the temporary cover and photograph all we find, inside the house and on the roof.
- 3
Go over the fix and any city steps
We hand you a written estimate for the lasting repair. When a permit is required, we pull it and set up the city inspection so the work is on record.
- 4
Make the lasting repair
We swap out damaged decking, put in underlayment and flashing that meet current code, and match the roofing to what is already on your home.
- 5
Walk the finished work
You see the repaired area and the photos, and we leave your yard clean.
What Affects the Cost
Two prices are involved: the temporary cover and the permanent repair. The cover is usually modest. The repair depends on what we find once the damaged area is opened, and your written estimate explains each part before you agree to anything.
- How far the damage spread
- A small torn patch costs far less than a slope where water soaked the decking and insulation underneath.
- Roofing material
- Matching tile takes more time and care than replacing asphalt shingles, and some older tile profiles are harder to find.
- Decking and underlayment condition
- Soft or rotted wood must be replaced before new roofing goes on. We show you photos of it rather than asking you to take our word.
- City permit and inspection
- When the scope calls for city review, the fee and inspection time are listed on the estimate.
- Roof pitch and access
- Steep slopes and second stories need extra safety setup, which adds labor.
Common Questions After Sudden Roof Damage
Will my insurance pay for this?
That depends on what damaged the roof and what your policy says. We work directly with your insurance claim and provide photos and a written scope, but your adjuster decides coverage. We explain every step as it comes so you know what to expect.
How long can a tarp stay on?
A well-fastened tarp holds for a few weeks, but sun and wind wear it down over time. It is there to protect the house until the real repair, so we schedule that work as soon as weather and materials allow.
Does this repair need a city permit?
Small fixes generally don't. Larger work, such as rebuilding much of a slope or the decking under it, generally does. We tell you which case fits your roof, and when the city must be involved, we file the paperwork and handle the inspection.
Are you licensed for this work?
Yes. Our license as a roofing contractor is CSLB 1092407 (C-39), and you can look it up with the state before hiring us.
Can I pay for the repair over time?
Yes. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval. Ask about it when you call and we will explain the details.
