Hail Damage Repair in Los Alamitos

Hail is rare here, which is exactly why damage gets missed. We check your roof by hand, photograph every bruised shingle or cracked tile, and explain what needs fixing. When the work needs a permit, we pull it and walk the inspection with you.

What hail repair means for your home

Hail does not always leave holes. On asphalt shingles it usually knocks loose the protective granules and bruises the mat underneath, so the roof looks fine from the driveway but ages faster and starts to leak a season or two later. On clay and concrete tile, a hailstone can crack a tile or chip a corner, letting water reach the underlayment below.

Our job is to tell you plainly whether your roof was hurt, how badly, and what a sound fix looks like. Sometimes that is a handful of replacement tiles or shingles. Sometimes a whole slope, or the whole roof, is past saving. Either way, the work is done to current California building code, and we handle the city paperwork so the repair holds up to the building inspector and to your insurer.

What you get with our hail repair

  1. 01

A close look on the roof itself

We climb up and go over every slope, ridge, vent and piece of flashing. Soft metal such as vent caps and gutters tends to dent first, which helps us confirm hail actually hit your home.

  2. 02

    A written report with photos

Each hit we mark is photographed, and you get a written estimate that lists every item. Your insurance adjuster will want to see this same record.

  3. 03

    Support with your claim

We work directly with your insurance claim and can meet your adjuster on the roof to show the damage. The coverage decision remains with your insurer.

  4. 04

    Fixing shingles and tile

Bruised shingles are replaced with matching products, and cracked tiles are swapped out while we check the underlayment beneath. Damaged flashing and vent caps are replaced rather than sealed over.

  5. 05

A new roof if it comes to that

When hail has hurt too much of the roof for patching, we can put on a new shingle roof or rebuild a tile roof over new underlayment.

  6. 06

    City approval for larger work

In California, bigger repairs and reroofs usually need a building permit. We pull it, book the inspection and are on site when the inspector reviews the work.

How to tell if hail hit your roof

  • Grit in gutters and at downspouts

Dark, sandy grit piled at the downspouts after a storm means the shingles lost part of their coating. That layer guards shingles from the sun, and without it the roof ages early.

  • Dents in vents, gutters or AC fins

Fresh round dents in metal around the house mean the roof was struck too. It's one of the easiest clues to spot from the ground.

  • Broken or chipped tile

Tile fragments in the yard or gutters are a plain warning. A single cracked tile can let the next rain reach the underlayment.

  • Dark marks on the shingles

Small round patches missing granules, sometimes soft to the touch, are typical hail bruises. They're often only visible up close.

  • A fresh ceiling stain

Water marks that appear weeks after a storm can come from hail. If something else is to blame, our roof leak repair crew can trace the water.

How a hail repair job goes

  1. 1

    Your call and free inspection

Let us know roughly when the hail fell and anything you've spotted since, like dents or grit at the downspouts. We book a free roof inspection and look over the entire roof, not a single corner.

  2. 2

    Findings, photos and estimate

We sit down with you, show the photos and go over a written estimate line by line. We tell you honestly if the damage is minor or if a claim makes sense.

  3. 3

    Insurance and paperwork

If you file a claim, we can meet the adjuster and share our documentation. Once the scope is set, we file whatever the city requires before any work begins.

  4. 4

    Repair day

We protect your landscaping, remove damaged material, check the decking and underlayment, then install new shingles, tiles and flashing to code. Nails and debris are cleaned up before we leave.

  5. 5

    Inspection and walk-through

When the city requires an inspection, we meet the inspector for sign-off. Then we walk you through the finished work and leave you the photos.

What sets the price of a hail repair

Every hail job is priced from what we really find on your roof. Each item is written out, so you can easily compare it with the scope your insurer sends. If you need help with a deductible or the whole cost, financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.

How much of the roof took hits
A handful of cracked tiles costs much less than a whole slope of bruised shingles. When the damage is spread wide, a new roof is often the better choice.
The type of roofing
Older tile can be harder to source, and some profiles aren't made anymore. Asphalt shingles are usually faster to match and put on.
Hidden damage below
If water already reached the decking, soft or rotted boards have to be replaced. We can only be sure once the old roofing is off, and we show you before adding anything.
City fees and code updates
A reroof that goes through the city may call for bringing older work up to today's code, like new flashing or ventilation changes. Permit fees are included in the estimate.

Common questions about hail damage

Can hail actually hurt roofs in Southern California?

It doesn't happen often, but a winter storm can bring hail here now and then. Since it's so rare, most homeowners never think to check the roof afterward. A free inspection gives you an answer either way.

Who should I call first, my insurer or a roofer?

An inspection first tends to help. You find out if there is real damage before filing, and you already have photos for the adjuster. We work directly with your insurance claim, but the coverage decision is your insurer's.

Do you have a license for hail repairs?

We do. We are a licensed roofing contractor, CSLB 1092407, with the C-39 roofing classification. You can check that number with the Contractors State License Board.

Will new shingles look like the rest of the roof?

We match the brand, color and profile as closely as we can. On older roofs an exact match isn't always possible, and we tell you before any work starts so you can choose a full slope or a new roof instead.

Is a permit needed for hail repairs?

Small fixes often aren't, but redoing a whole slope or the full roof usually is. We find out what your job requires, file with the city when needed and take care of the inspection.
